Meet the Team
Berry Phillips, LMSW
Berry specializes in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, grief, emotional dysregulation, and feelings of disconnection, as well as those seeking to find meaning in everyday life.
Berry’s practice emphasizes a broad, humanist approach and open-ended inquiry. She is passionate about sitting with clients and hearing their stories, guiding them toward new understandings of their strengths, values, and identity, or toward hope in realizing that their story is not yet finished. Berry believes that nothing that feels painful is ever the last step. Drawing from a range of theories and therapeutic modalities, she offers warmth, honesty, and openness, creating an affirming environment where clients feel seen and appreciated – messy parts and all.
Her clinical experience includes training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Multisystemic Therapy (MST) with young adults who have complex trauma backgrounds. This work informs her passion for trauma-informed care and for helping clients identify and challenge negative core beliefs. During her time at NYU Langone–Brooklyn’s inpatient psychiatry unit for adults experiencing acute psychiatric crises, Berry received training in assessment, treatment, and psychopharmacology education. She believes that knowledge is power, especially when it comes to understanding one’s own mental health needs.
Before entering the mental health field, Berry built a career in a high-pressure sales environment, giving her firsthand insight into stress, performance pressure, and the ways identity can become intertwined with achievement. She brings valuable perspective to helping clients navigate workplace dynamics and explore the balance between external and internal measures of success.
Berry holds a Master’s degree from New York University’s Silver School of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Colorado College. She is currently pursuing post-graduate training in trauma-informed modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
